Dental implants are artificial tooth roots inserted into the jaw bone to accommodate the fixing of artificial teeth. Usually titanium, an inert metal, is used for dental implants.

Using a surgical procedure, the metallic screw is inserted into jaw bone, after which an artificial tooth is permanently fixed to the titanium screw.
Several people find it convenient to have a dental implant because of its ruggedness and also there are fewer restrictions on the types of food they can eat. However, dental procedures are never solved for life and every patient comes at a point where they have to revisit the doctor for some reason or the other. It may be because of the same tooth that they had an implant on or for another tooth. According to dentists, if one tooth starts giving a problem, then eventually the other teeth will also start.
If you are going to have an MRI scan with a dental implant, there are few things you should know. An MRI scan is mainly done to diagnose several health conditions, including orthopedic problems and cancerous tumors. The MRI uses a very strong type of magnetic field to scan the insides. In case you have a metal implant, then it should be something that should not interfere with the magnetic field of the MRI scan. Always check with the doctor personally to determine if the metal dental implant is a safe option to have during an MRI scan. You may be going through an MRI scan for anything, but you should always let the doctor know that you have a dental implant.
However, it is to be noted that usually dental implants are not magnetic in nature. Hence, they do not interfere with the MRI procedure.
